Today the kids and I went to the Berkeley Farmers' Market again. It has become a good regular routine outing combined with playing at the small sandy park between City Hall. We can usually go to shul if we get an early start, which did not happen unfortunately today. I just could not awaken and get up this morning. The alternate plan is also effective though and so the kids ate a lunch at McDonalds and then we spent a good couple of minutes trying to get the motion detector 'Spy Kids Happy Meal' toy to function. Cheap toy from "...made in China." Probability of being slave labor made?

I remember a time when people went to restaurants to eat and went to mall toy stores for toys. Now you can get a meal at IKEA, collect happy meal toys at fast food places, and socialize at the local Barnes & Nobles bookstore.

J loves going to the bookstore, not to buy books, but, I think, to read in the social environment. Right now one son appears to be 'cross-referencing' Richard Scarry books while my younger son is immersed in my reading to him various Pokemon books.
