We are expecting a CouchSurfer couple this afternoon.

We just hosted a CouchSurfer and her daughter. This hosting experience was the best so-far. In writing her a "reference", I felt I was in compliance with my Mission statement of: "Current Mission: "Sometimes I feel like my life is short on descriptive words ... I want to change that. I want to be able to describe attributes of my friends, how I feel, what I see." as I wanted to use words to describe my fun experience with her.

One of the things we did together was that our mutual friend Emily suggested seeing a drive-In movie show before that drive-in venue closed permanently. "Kung Fu Panda" then "Iron Man" was the billing that night but as the schedule begins after sunset at 9p, we left before "Iron Man" began (missing it again for me). The movie experience was fun.

This past Tuesday, the CouchSurfer and I went to a fundraising lunch for Darrell Steinberg, California State Senator, 6th District.

On Sunday of last weekend, S and I planted in our allotment in the Fremont Community Garden that we just received rentership of.

We planted dill, Zea mays, Ruby Red Chard, Echinacea, Thyme citriodorus, spearmint, chili pepper college, sweet banana peppers, yerba buena, parsley, Oregano, and marigolds. I want to plant garbanzo beans.

The smoke from the fires in California continues to drift throughout the city and overhead.

I had fun watching the fireworks show with S, J, and R at the Berkeley Marina (even after it got foggy).

My mom had heart surgery last week and seems to be recovering well. We visited her the day of the surgery, and stayed in the Bay Area for a few days afterward to revisit with her. We will probably visit her again this upcoming weekend.

Last week I sat for the CSRM Docent interview.

The Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival in Laytonville was fun. "This year's line-up featured: Ani DiFranco Band, Greg Brown, Los Lobos, David Lindley, The Waifs, Jimmy LaFave, Todd Snider, Taj Mahal Trio, Keb' Mo' Band, John Gorka & Lucy Kaplansky with Nina Gerber, Ruthie Foster, The Wailin' Jennys, Pieta Brown, Cris Williamson, Rosalie Sorrels, Blame Sally, Vance Gilbert, The Greencards, Moira Smiley & VOCO, Keith Greeninger, Woody Simmons, Love Choir, Jammin' 101 with Sid Lewis, Chris Caswell, Joe Craven, and more ..."

Swimming in the stream (Tenmile Creek ?) alongside Black Oak Ranch (part of the Hog Farm) where the festival was very fun for me as well.
