One of my friends had to remove their journal because on Google searches it was coming up before their employers company page. Their manager was not at all happy.
Are you refering to a LJ friend we have in common ? I have removed all traces of my IRL volunteer stuff in my LJ at an IRL/LJ friend's request. I had not ever used my IRL name or my dumb employer's companies's names because of search engines and robots.
I have been very careful to not mention my employer anywhere in my journal or comments. I make my entries friend only by default and have robots.txt checked in my profile. Hopefully that will reduce the ability of search engines to index my page for anythign that might be problematic.
The block spiders option doesn't work. I found my journal instantly on google despite the fact that I checked it. I wrote LJ about it and they say that google ignores it. So the lesson is never write anything private in your journal. Not even friends posts. There are several friends-only postings in google's cache if you search it.
I guess I am pretty plain looking. Average height, skinny, long blonde hair. The thought of someone from the internet identifying me is actually pretty scary!!
